Before your installation for Laravel 5.5 framework, you need to make sure your server meets the following requirements on your system :

These 5 things are strongly recommended for installation.

1.Pre Installed Composer on your system
1.PHP Version >= 7.0.0
2.PDO PHP Extension
3.Tokenizer PHP Extension
4.XML PHP Extension
5.OpenSSL PHP Extension

Step:1. If you are going to install Laravel 5.5 so first of all make sure you have already installed composer on your system. if not, then follow the below steps to get the installation done

Download and Install Composer

The composer is a Best dependency tool for PHP, Simply for installation and updates about project dependencies. It will generally check which other packages a specific project depends on and install them for your project, based on versions & project requirements.

Let’s start to Install the Composer tool.

First of all, update the package manager simply run the following command from your terminal.


$ sudo apt-get update

Make sure curl is install on your system to processed to next step. if curl is not php5-cli is not presently installed on your system so you strongly required to installed. git is used by Composer for downloading project dependencies.

All you can install with the following command.


$ sudo apt-get install curl php5-cli git

Now process to Downloading and Installing Composer with this single line of command.


$ curl -sS https://getcomposer.org/installer | sudo php -- --install-dir=/usr/local/bin --filename=composer

Composer installed to: /usr/local/bin/composer
Use it: php /usr/local/bin/composer

Now question is, How will you check composer installed or not?

So, It’s easy for that you need to simply you required to open the terminal any write command composer. It will tell you that whether it’s installed or not.

$ Composer 

2. Install Laravel 5.5 via Composer

Go through this command to install LARAVEL 5.5 and its all packages on your Ubuntu LTS. I am sure that you’ll not be stuck at any step.


$ composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel laravel5.5

3.Go inside your working laravel directory


$ cd laravel5.5

4.Check your laravel version go through with this command. So will able to know easily that in which version you’re about to working on.


$ php artisan --version

4. Run your laravel project


$ php artisan serve
